Privacy Policy
How ClickTests.net collects, uses, and protects your information — including our use of Google AdSense.
1. Introduction
Welcome to ClickTests.net. We operate a collection of 50+ free browser-based input performance testing tools available at clicktests.net. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information about you when you visit our website.
By using ClickTests.net, you consent to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree with any part of this policy, please discontinue use of the site. This policy applies to all pages and tools on clicktests.net and does not cover third-party websites linked from our pages.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information You Provide
We only collect personal information you actively provide. This occurs when you submit a message via our contact form or by emailing us directly at contact.clicktests@gmail.com, at which point we collect your name, email address, and the content of your message. This information is used solely to respond to your enquiry.
2.2 Automatically Collected Data
When you visit our website, standard server and analytics infrastructure may automatically collect the following technical data:
- IP address (anonymised — last octet is zeroed before storage)
- Browser type and version
- Operating system and device category
- Pages visited and time spent on each
- Referring URL (the site you came from, if any)
- Date and time of the visit
- General geographic region (country/city level, derived from anonymised IP)
This data is collected in aggregate form to help us understand usage patterns and improve the site. It is not linked to any individual identity.
2.3 Advertising Data (Google AdSense)
ClickTests.net displays advertisements served by Google AdSense. Google and its advertising partners use cookies — including the DART cookie — to serve ads to visitors based on their prior visits to our site and other websites on the internet. This allows Google to show relevant, personalised advertisements.
The use of DART cookies by Google enables Google and its partners to display ads based on your browsing history across sites that participate in the Google Display Network. ClickTests.net does not have access to or control over the cookies used by Google or any other third-party advertiser.
2.4 Test Scores and Local Storage
All test computations happen inside your browser. If you enable Score History via the Settings panel, your scores are saved to your browser's localStorage only — they are never transmitted to our servers or associated with your identity.
3. Cookies
Cookies are small text files placed in your browser that help websites recognise returning visitors and personalise content. ClickTests.net uses the following categories of cookies:
- Essential cookies — required for core site functionality such as remembering your cookie consent choice and Settings preferences. These cannot be disabled without breaking the site.
- Analytics cookies — Google Analytics (GA4) cookies used to collect anonymised, aggregate data about how visitors use the site. Only set with your consent via our cookie banner.
- Advertising cookies (Google AdSense / DART) — Google places the DART cookie to serve interest-based ads based on your visits to our site and other internet sites. These are only activated where you have consented to advertising cookies.
You can manage or disable cookies at any time through your browser settings. For full details of every cookie we set, including name, provider, purpose, and duration, see our Cookie Policy.
4. Google AdSense and Third-Party Advertising
ClickTests.net participates in the Google AdSense advertising programme. Google is one of our third-party advertising vendors and uses cookies to serve ads on our site based on your prior visits to our website or other websites across the internet.
Our advertising partners may use cookies, JavaScript, or web beacons in their advertisements and links that appear on ClickTests.net. These technologies are used to measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns and to serve personalised advertisements. ClickTests.net has no access to or control over these third-party technologies.
4.1 Advertising Partners
Each of our advertising partners operates under its own privacy policy. You may consult the following links for full information on how our partners handle user data:
4.2 Opting Out of Personalised Advertising
You have several options to control personalised advertising:
- Google Ads Settings — visit google.com/settings/ads to opt out of personalised Google advertising or manage your ad preferences.
- DART cookie opt-out — visit the Google ad and content network Privacy Policy at policies.google.com/technologies/ads to opt out of DART cookies.
- Network Advertising Initiative — visit optout.networkadvertising.org to opt out of interest-based advertising from NAI member companies.
- Digital Advertising Alliance — visit optout.aboutads.info for additional opt-out options.
- Browser-level cookie controls — you can disable or block cookies through your browser settings. Instructions vary by browser; refer to your browser's help documentation.
- Our cookie consent banner — you can withdraw consent for advertising cookies at any time by revisiting our cookie consent settings.
Please note that opting out of personalised advertising does not mean you will stop seeing ads — it means the ads you see will be less relevant to your interests.
5. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to operate ClickTests.net. Each is governed by its own privacy documentation:
- Google AdSense — serves advertisements. Uses DART cookies for personalised ads. Policy: policies.google.com/technologies/ads
- Google Analytics (GA4) — anonymised, aggregate usage analytics with IP anonymisation enabled. Opt-out via our cookie banner or the GA opt-out browser add-on. Policy: policies.google.com/privacy
- Google Fonts — loads web fonts (Syne, DM Sans) from Google's servers. Your browser may send your IP to Google when requesting these assets. Policy: Google Fonts privacy FAQ
- Web hosting infrastructure — our hosting provider processes server logs containing anonymised IP addresses for security and uptime monitoring purposes.
We do not use Facebook Pixel, affiliate tracking scripts, or any other third-party marketing technology beyond those listed above.
6. How We Use Your Information
We use information collected on ClickTests.net for the following purposes only:
- To respond to messages submitted via the contact form
- To display relevant advertisements through Google AdSense
- To monitor site performance and identify technical errors
- To understand which tools and features are most used, so we can improve the site
- To ensure all tools function correctly across different browsers and devices
- To comply with applicable legal obligations
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for their own marketing purposes. We do not use your data for automated decision-making or profiling beyond what is necessary to display advertisements via Google AdSense.
7. Data Storage and Retention
Contact form submissions are retained only as long as needed to resolve your enquiry and are then deleted. We do not maintain a permanent database of contact messages.
Anonymised analytics data is retained in Google Analytics for up to 14 months before automatic deletion, in line with GA4 defaults.
Advertising-related data (DART cookies and associated ad performance metrics) is managed by Google under their own retention schedules. ClickTests.net does not independently store advertising data.
All data is held on servers secured with HTTPS encryption. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, but we apply current best practices to minimise risk.
8. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Right of access — request a copy of any personal data we hold about you.
- Right to rectification — request correction of inaccurate information.
- Right to erasure — request deletion of your personal data.
- Right to restriction — request that we limit processing of your data.
- Right to object — object to processing based on legitimate interests.
- Right to data portability — request your data in a portable, machine-readable format.
- Right to withdraw consent — withdraw consent for cookies at any time via our cookie settings without affecting prior lawful processing.

9. GDPR — Legal Basis for Processing
For users in the European Economic Area (EEA) or United Kingdom, our legal bases for processing personal data are:
- Consent — for analytics cookies (Google Analytics) and advertising cookies (Google AdSense / DART), which are only activated after you accept them via our cookie consent banner.
- Contract performance — to respond to contact form enquiries you initiate.
- Legitimate interests — for anonymised analytics used solely to improve site performance and tool quality, where this does not override your rights.
- Legal obligation — where we are required to process or retain data to comply with applicable law.
10. CCPA — California Residents
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) grants you the following rights:
- The right to know what personal information is collected, used, disclosed, or sold about you.
- The right to delete personal information we have collected from you, subject to certain exceptions.

- The right to non-discrimination for exercising your CCPA rights.
To submit a CCPA request, contact us via our Contact page or email contact.clicktests@gmail.com. We will respond within 45 days.
11. Children's Privacy
ClickTests.net is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in jurisdictions where a higher threshold applies). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. Google AdSense is configured on our site to serve non-personalised ads to users in jurisdictions where targeted advertising directed at minors is restricted.
If you believe a child has submitted personal data through our contact form, please contact us immediately. We will take prompt steps to delete such information.
12. International Data Transfers
ClickTests.net is operated within the European Union. Third-party services we use — including Google AdSense and Google Analytics — may process data in the United States and other countries. Where such international transfers occur, they are carried out under appropriate safeguards including Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) as approved by the European Commission.
13. Do Not Track
Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" (DNT) signal to websites. ClickTests.net does not currently alter its data collection practices in response to DNT signals, as no universally accepted standard for DNT response has been established. You can restrict data collection more directly by declining analytics and advertising cookies via our consent banner.
14. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically as our tools evolve or applicable laws change. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of ClickTests.net after a change is posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy. We encourage you to review this page regularly.
15. Contact Us
If you have questions, concerns, or requests about this Privacy Policy or your personal data — including requests relating to Google AdSense data — please contact us via our Contact page or email us directly at contact.clicktests@gmail.com. We aim to respond to all privacy enquiries within 30 days.
For enquiries specifically about Google's use of your data through AdSense, visit policies.google.com/privacy or contact Google directly.
